Fence Sittin' by mozette

Fence Sittin'

The other day, I was putting out the recycling when I spotted this lovely Kookaburra sitting on my side fence.
I got pretty close to him and he didn't really fuss; just looked at me. I think he knows who I am and knows I wouldn't hurt him... just take photos. :)

And I imagine he wasn't quiet about it either

@digitalrn actually, he didn't say anything... it was his actions I was concerned about. He ended up flying to my clothes line and sitting himself on a nice black corduroy skirt that was on the line... I was sitting at the fence begging him quietly not to poop on it.

He didn't. *Phew!*

Just love this shot. You were lucky to get so close to him to get the shot.

Except for the beak, it looks similar to a hummingbird. How big is this critter?

@beteljooz Kookaburras are the larger species of the Kingfisher family. They eat worms, bugs and grasshoppers from your garden as well as lawn grubs. :D
