In the Year of the Dragon, you can have dragon fruit. 8D
That's what this fruit is called. Too bad it's not actually from a dragon. This is the fruit of a cactus plant. Some people say it's sweet but I find it very, very bland. It's like eating a mouthful of water. The texture is similar to a kiwifruit but creamier. So, to me, it's like eating creamy water. If that makes any sense. I find it weird. I'd rather have a crunchy persimmon or a bittersweet durian anytime!
I did come across dragon fruit on my trip around China, but never got to actually tasting it., and milky water doesn't sound like my type of taste. Love your focus and composition in this :)
awesome close up shot!! i have never had one of these before but have seen them (not cut open though) I had no idea what they looked like inside until i seen someones shot a lil while ago, and now yours. How weird! maybe one day i will have to try one just to say i had one :) lol
It does make a pretty picture, to be fair to it! :-) I tried it once, some time ago, and seem to recall a flavour not unlike lychees. Pretty delicate and yes, perhaps a tad watery, but somehow quite intriguing. Now I'll have to try and find one, just to remind myself (though we don't see tham often here)
Beautiful photo. You caught all of the textures and colors perfectly. I've never tried Dragon Fruit, but I did try Durian, and I have to admit that I'm not a fan.
Very cool shot! Its so interesting when you see the insides of these fruits....its like you almost don't believe that with something that has such a fantastic outer color can have such a simple looking inside. :)
I agree I tried it once and it was very bland. Does have the texture you are talking about although I don't know if I would have ever thought to describe it that way :) Pretty shot for a pretty fruit!!
Love this shot :) I just realised this is the white one! I've only ever had the red ones here, and they are the most incredible colour! I prefer persimmons too, but durian... hmmm.... not so much ;)
We have dragon fruit here in the Philippines but I never actually taste it. Now I want to try because of this shot. Love the textures... I can never imagine what creamy water taste like :D
@chamal Oh I wish I had taken a photo of the whole fruit but I didn't and we've eaten it all. *LOL* But you can google for "dragon fruit" and you'll see lots of pictures of it. It has quite an eye-catching appearance. 8)
A big, creamy, tasty, dragon-touched "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I appreciate it very much. I wish I could serve you all some dragon fruit. Try it if you haven't. And don't forget to take a photograph first. 8D
Wow this is fantastic! So strange I picked a dragon fruit up the day you took this picture with the intention of cutting it open and photographing the goods! It is still in the fridge, waiting to have its picture taken!

Again, thank you all, so much!
