Do you like capsicum? I do. I add them when I stir-fry vegetables, for a splash of color. But, three months ago, if you had told me I'd be photographing capsicum, I would have laughed long and loud. How times have changed! These days, when The Husband finds me staring at the vegetables and fruits in the kitchen, his first reaction is: "Are you going to shoot that?" 8D
I need to say this: I want to thank everyone for your well wishes and response to my post yesterday. I also want to thank you for your congrats on my kermit mum shot for making it to the Top 20. I'm shocked-overjoyed-shocked-elated-shocked! Thank you so much, for all your support and encouragement, you all motivate me to take better photographs. I am grateful.
Never had capsicum but now I want to try it. Nice photo I to find myself looking at intimate objects as sources of inspiration its a nice way of looking at the ordinary in an extraordinary way makes me more aware of what is around me.
Hi,Livia!I'm Tanya.I am new here and I don't know what to do.Would you like to help me to get used to it?I'm You'waiting your reply.re a good photographer.:)
I've never tasted capsicum . . but it looks beautiful. It looks like a melon of some kind. Do you eat the fleshy part AND the seeds? So The Husband has to ask first and NOT eat your next photo shoot! That's cute. The photo of your son was wonderful . . and all of your photos should be on top. They're beautiful works of art.
@john01756@cocobella@karenann Capsicum is also called bell pepper in the U.S.A. and Canada, I think. It comes in green, yellow, orange and red colors. It isn't spicy at all. Nope, we don't eat the seeds, they are removed before cooking. 8)
Beautiful focus on the seeds! I don't know if it's exactly the same as the sweet peppers we have in France. The most commons we have look like this: http://dico-cuisine.fr/news/poivron
The site is in French but it's just for the pic :-) Is it what you call capsicum?
Know what you mean with staring at things to photograph them ;-)
@myautofocuslife OK. You name them very scientifically :-) Capsicum is the name (latin) of the genus, but it's not only for this variety of pepper. Hot peppers for instance, also belong to Capsicums. Anyway, we eat them too here, but not much in winter, as they come from very far and are expensive.
Lol, my husband says the same thing, but it applies to everything I look at! Fantastic capture! I always have peppers available, to be eaten raw or cooked. Trying to grow some at present.
note to self: do not eat while viewing livia's posts. :-D chewed grilled haddock almost splattered the laptop. you are so hilarious! my partner asked me when he saw me a while ago in the kitchen with my camera: "is nothing sacred to you?" and i replied: "no, as long as it's not obscene, it's fair game, baby!"
well, congratulations on your top 20 feat. job very well done. and the bell pepper seeds are fabulous!
Capsicum = Spanish pepper isn`t it ? I love them . I did the same whit my still live pic . And to day for a pic I`ll post in future.
Love the color and texture and the seeds in it .
Another wonderful picture! the word capsicum puzzled me and made me think for a minute We call them red bell peppers. Thanks for teaching me a new word today. Congrats of your top 20 picture. . .it was stunning!
Peppers, or sweet peppers, in the UK. Hmm, looks just a teensy bit rude, and then there's the seeds... never looked at peppers in quite that way before! :-)
My first thought when I saw the thumbnail size of this photo was that it was a rockmellon, but when I saw it bigger of course it is a capsicum. Great POV !!
Isn't it funny how this site changes how you look at the world. This is a great shot. Funny how cool those look, like cantelope and how fiery they feel on your tongue.
I love when someone gives me a strange look or questions why I would ever want to take a picture of a certain object. Then, usually afterwards, they say "oh, that's so cool"! I love your shot but I don't know what a capsicum is????
Fantastic! That's very "up close"! We eat capsicums all the time here - grilled, stir fried or raw. I love them. Where do you live that you also call them 'capsicums'? As most seem to call them peppers.
What a great photo, Livia. I have heard of capsicum but never have seen it. Love your story about your husband and taking photos of what you are staring at. I do the same thing. I make him slow down if he is cooking also to take photos.
The Husband finds me staring at the vegetables and fruits in the kitchen, his first reaction is: "Are you going to shoot that?"
I'm really laughing at this, I like how your Husband is picking up the lingo as well, Diane has started using it also!!
Congratulations on making the top 20, your photography is wonderful, especially your macro work. You deserve to be top 20. This picture is lush as well BTW.
yeah, the same thing has happened to me...I can not look at anything without thinking about shooting it. A few weeks ago, we had a beautiful sunrise, my daughter called to ask how many shots I had taken...she didn't question IF...just HOW MANY! I really llke this closeup of the seeds...very nice and clear focus with great color.
Good close up, I couldnt think what it was till I saw the other comments and realised it was our peppers. Love em.
I think we are all looking at everything with a camera shot eye!
A great, big, not-seedy, happy-faced, brightly-colored, fresh and loud "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
Thank you for stopping by, leaving a comment and letting me know if you call it a capsicum, bell pepper or sweet pepper. I learned a few new things and I'm always happy to be able to learn something new! It's also great to know that The Husband's reaction sounds familiar to some of you. Heh. We are all in this together and I'm so glad to be a part of the 365 community.
I love how you make the ordinary beautiful, very artful
I forgot to say on my last post congrats on the top 20, you must have been so wired! It is such a beautiful shot though, well deserved.
@believer Thank you for your message. I'd recommend reading Ross's Getting Started guide if you're new: http://365project.org/support/gettingstarted because it's really helpful. 8)

The only use I have for capsicum (or peppers as we call them over here) is photography. :)
