This is a little charm of a wishing pot. It was love at first sight, so I had to buy it. I love little charms. (My obsession with tiny things does not stop with big-eyed jumping spiders!) This pot charm not only feels and looks fabulously antique-like, the lid opens and closes perfectly. The clasp fits over the metal knob and locks!
Wishing pots work this way: You write your wish on a piece of paper, seal it in the pot and wait for it to come true. So, if you had a wishing pot, would you use it? I know I wouldn't. I think wishes are dangerous things. Everything has a price, even if that is not apparent at first. My old, bitter and cynical heart does not believe in wishes. 8P
This shot was made in the most unprofessional way possible, by standing next to a window, holding the charm in my left hand and the camera in my right. XD
Great close up - and I like your most unprofessional way :-). If I wanted to use a wishing pot it had to be this one - it looks so lovely. Dreams and wishes - they may be dangerous but it would be sad to be without them :-).
So intricate and beautiful. I love the idea of making a wish, although I'm not sure my A4 sized sheet of paper/list would fit in there ;-) Lovely close up :-)
exquisite - and the 'unprofessional technique' gives a great sense of scale and just a hint of offering it for a wish! I agree, everything has a cost - This is so sweet I would be willing to "pay the Piper"
I love the detail on this pot. I believe in dreams and you are right, be careful what you wish for as they are not always a good thing. Go with your gut. Nice photo, Livia.
Love this little wishing pot...well photographed and described. I'm more trusting that a wish will be fulfilled if it's right, but not if it's filled with wrongness...
Love that little wishing pot. Is it made of bronze? With a chain it can be use as a necklace so you carry you good wishes always with you. ( stunting close up )
Beautiful Livia, Love the idea of this too. I love little things too, they fascinate me. (Did you read 'the borrowers' when you were young? they would have made good use of this)
Oh Livia this is just fabulous!! I love the little wishing pot and would love one of those! We used to as a family put our wishes, thoughts and prayers in a big wishing pot and then read them all together on Christmas Eve...it was a special place to keep your deepest, truest thought s and wishes! This is a Fab capture and a Fav for bringing back those memories!!
I would be wishing my little heart out! That pot would be so full that it would be overflowing. Unprofessional is good in this instant and you know what we make the most of the tools we have and fingers and a window are just fine.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter what you do to create a photograph. it's how it turns out ....and this is fabulous. If I could I would stand on my head to get a good shot ;-) I dream or pray but typically don't wish. I love tiny things, too, and this little charm is a great find. Fav!
:You captured this adorable charm wonderfully in spite of you unprofessionalism. I might try making a wish. At least it would make me think about what I want, and thinking about it is the first step in pursuing your dreams. I can appreciate you take on wishes though.
What is unprofessional about it..you have a great closup of this beautiful wishing pot and the lighting is perfect.. but as to writing a wish and hoping by putting it in this wishing pot I don't know..great find though.
A great, big, wish-like, charmingly charm-like "THANK YOU!" to everyone for taking the time out of your busy schedule to stop by! Very happy to read your opinions on the make-a-wish-or-not issue. And thank you so much for your encouraging comments. I appreciate them, and I am grateful for them.
Nice macro....I agree about wishes and am not sure I'd use the pot either, although I don't know how I would get my wish folded up and into that pot in the first place !!
I love this. And at first I thought "of course I'd use it" and started to think of what to wish for. But you make a good point..."be careful what you wish for." Thought provoking and lovely photo!
If you don't use it for keeping wishes in then maybe a pet jumping spider instead!
Again, thank you!
beautiful shot, fav :)
