Carl Sandburg: "Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you."
This is an old Singapore 5-cent coin from the Marine series, which was first issued in 1967. It looks like a swan but, according to the mint's official site, it depicts a "snake-bird sitting in its nest and preening its feathers". (A snake-bird is also a darter.)
Time is certainly something we can't have enough of, isn't it. I know, in the coming weeks, I will be spending time watching some great new series from the fall anime season, and one of them will be the second season of Jormungand! (Last time I mentioned Jormungand: http://365project.org/myautofocuslife/365/2012-04-27 ) A little violence in my anime diet goes a long way toward keeping me happy. XD
Cool shot and quote. I think the bill is too long and sharp to be a swan. I'm not familiar with the snakebird but I love the name. I can see that name as an anime character.
Beautiful and strongly motivating quote - Very cool shot of the coin - perfect dof - fascinating bird too - I really appreciate the info that comes with your photos - always interesting and eminently readable.
What a very pretty coin; lovely shot of it. How was your area today with the grand prix? It was so exciting to watch and the city looked so beautiful but I would imagine no fun if you live there?
Love the cropping and focus! There was an anime convention of some type in Boston a few months backs - characters of all description were roaming the streets and hotel lobbies - lots of photography going on in the city then!
Love the way you`ve captured the coin. And the tale
We don`t have those series of our TV canals so I`m not familiar with them. But I don`t like series at all because , if you have seen one you are stick to it and I don`t like to be force one way or the other .Yes , you can say you don`t have to do it but it`s like a addiction , you still do .
@claireuk We just avoid going to town whenever it's F1 season! It looks terribly exciting on TV but I can't imagine putting up with the noise and crowds, so I keep my distance. 8)
Stunning capture. Composition, pov, tones and detail are all great. Awesome preview. Looks great.
I'm still reading the Rurouni Kenshin series. Hooked. So good

Also appreciating the tip off about 'Jormungand'. ;-) Artwork feels a lot like 'Hellsing' and 'Lost Exile'...
