This weeks collage challenge theme is 'My Favorite Memory" These images were taken on my very first trip to the mountainous Sierra Chincua Reserve in Michoacán, one of the forested overwintering sites of the Monarch butterflies. We had to take horses about a mile up into the Oyemel forest where the butterflies cluster. This is a magical natural sight that may not be there 20 years (or less) from now.Deforestation in Mexico and lack of native Milkweeds here in the US is putting this miraculous migration in jeopardy. I took all these images with a little Cannon Powershot. Although I did not take the one of me on the horse..I did request my guide take it for me.Look large for a glimse of a sky full of butterflies when the sun came up and a huge group "puddling" in the water on the ground.
