Milk Bottle. by naomi

Milk Bottle.

So, today is pancake day. Time to use up the stuff you have in your cupboards and decide what to give up for lent! I'm not religious but I still like the idea of trying to give something up for 40 days...

In other news, I was really suprised, angered and fairly upset over the responses I got to the thread I posted yesterday. I don't know what to think about this site any more. I don't really know that I even want to be part of it any longer. There are some lovely people on this site, but I'm worried about where everything's heading. Some of the comments I received yesterday were just not on at all.
Love this pic. I noticed what you said and checked out the thread as I had totally missed it. I made a little comment and I am sure it won't make a difference but felt I should say something. There is just something missing in some people. I hope you don't leave the project just because of a few bad eggs. Let your talent and beauty shine and don't stop just because a few crass people are around.

I saw the replies and it sickened me. There are just somethings that are VERY off limits for jokes.

Great perspective. I didn't see the thread. I'm sorry that the responses were upsetting though.

Firstly, cool photo. I don't get glass milk bottles unfortunately, but this is a great perspective.

Secondly, I read the discussion topic you made. I think you're incredibly brave to stand up and acknowledge to people you don't know that you have an eating disorder. I suffered from mild depression a few years back and I've only just become comfortable enough to talk to people I don't really know about it. I think that the responses you've received amount to bullying and I'm also shocked that such a thing has happened here on 365. However, please please please don't let it be a reason to leave the site, that way they win and they won't even notice, it'll just be you and the rest of us who enjoy looking at your photos and interacting with you on a daily basis who lose out.

I feel this is a serious issue and I'd like to contact Ross and raise the issue of bullying on the site with him, if that's OK with you. I think it's something that should be relatively easy to deal with, something like a "report" button on posts, to make this site more friendly again. If you let me know if it's OK with you, I shall send an email, rather than raising it in the discussion boards.

On a separate note, are you involved in the concert at Aidan's this Saturday? I'm going to Harrogate for the weekend and will be going, so it would be cool to say hi if you're there. :-)

Naomi, stay on please. You are one of the many good photographers on this site. Don't be run off. You're strong...I can tell by your photos.

The fact that you have 292 followers is proof that people enjoy your photos and it would be such a shame if careless hurtful comments by insensitive and shallow site members on your forum thread drive you away from this site.
I like the simplicity of this image and the colours too :-)

The comments on the thread you made were way out of line and appalled me.
I hope you don't leave, you're a fantastic photographer, and a valuable member of this site.

don't leave---I like Rachael's idea---hang in there!!

I just read the thread you posted, and wow. I am actually amazed at how ignorant and rude people can be. I also like Rachel's idea -- don't let bullies chase you from 365. You're clearly a very talented photographer and important member of 365.

This is really cool! I didn't catch the thread, but I am going to go find it. This has always been such a supportive site, it saddens me to hear this! Don't let a few bad apples ruin your experience though. Brush them off like water on a duck! You are too good for their negativity!

Nice angle and positioning. Eating disorders are a very important topic, you have educated a lot of us on it and made us see. Do NOT let anyone upset you, if a few are rude and ignorant the majority welcome the awareness and information that you provide. You can dress a monkey up, but it is still a monkey.

Email sent. I'll let you know when I hear back from Ross.

Naomi I am sad to see what happened to your thread but please don't leave the sight, you have many many many lovely followers who would sorely miss your wonderful photography, me included. You are in fact one of my favourite photographers on here and you show wisdom and strength way beyond your years. My thoughts are with you and your friends, sounds like a pretty heavy time for you all to deal with.

Oh and beautiful shot, hope your pancakes were more successful than my efforts!

I read the thread too and I hope you're ok.Don't give up,I know you're strong:)

@wormentude I contacted him as well--and yes, it's bullying and brings the whole site down. I keep seeing these people making comments like that on threads every time I log in. It's changing the feel of Project 365 in not a very nice way. I hesitate to recommend it to fellow photographers any more, which is a shame.

@clarissajohal I had a reply today - details are on Naomi's post for tomorrow. I'm just concerned that next time someone with less courage may be on the receiving end.

@wormentude Okedoke. I wonder if he got any other emails?

This is gorgeous - I am really sorry to hear about what happened Naomi - it is a shame that some people can be so cruel and unthinking. I hope it doesn't cause you to leave, I'd miss seeing your gorgeous pictures and keeping in touch with you :)

Great perspective. I did something similar with a broken drinking glass, but I prefer this shot (great colour on it too) - it brings back memories of glass milkbottles!

I'm glad you've come through whatever happened in my absence during the week. And it's great to see that there's so much support to be had here from others (it's a shame that the negative affects us more than the positive - always the case, don't you think?!). Hang on in there. You're dealing with things very sensibly, and above all, you're getting some great photos - it'd be a shame if you gave it up because of some idiots and a situation which went out of hand xx
