I recently received this plant as a gift. The Euphorbia milii or Crown of thorns is a flowering plant native to Madagascar. Some legends associate it with the crown of thorns worn by Christ.
The branches are very thorny. Leaves are found only near the top with new growth. Different varieties flower in different colors. Each flower is tiny, smaller than a fingernail.
