Route 66

Route 66 came to be in 1926 with the first US Federal highway system. It has long since been decommissioned & replaced with other major highways. However, it is being preserved as a slice of American history. This particular small town was the inspiration for Radiator Springs in the movie Cars.

Fun information. On the west coast, I think Route 66 ended in Santa Monica, CA at the pier. Not sure where at the other end. :)
