A burst of colour! by northy

A burst of colour!

Because sometimes black and white just does NOT do justice to the subject :)

I have seen this gentleman on a number of occasions, but this was the first time he was actually standing still and facing me. I do not know what his story is, but shortly after this photo was taken he started to get into it with the guy handing out free info about Jesus.

I wish the scene wasn't quite so busy, but hey, it's the corner of Yonge and Dundas and it was a-swarming with people this afternoon.
I think this works better *because* it the background is so busy. It doesn't detract from your main subject, but adds more realisim to the whole scene. I'd love to know this guys story to. I bet it's a doozey!

Great colors and street scene! I, too, would like to know this guys' story...he seems to have quite a bit of..."baggage."

I love the pic and the tags...
June 6th, 2012
Great! Background works quite well... did you get any shots of them arguing?
June 6th, 2012
Colour is clearly his thing! Great shot.
June 6th, 2012
@binny tx Binny! i tried to get photos of the argument, but the angle was off, lighting awkward and too many people milling about to really make any sense of the shots...
June 6th, 2012
@cromwell tx Cromwell... about his story... yeah... i bet it's a doozy as well!

Fantastic capture - he sure has lots of stuff on and around him. Great find!
June 6th, 2012
Great capture! This guy looks like quite the character. I agree with you about the colour for this shot - it's all about the colour!
June 6th, 2012
This SO needed the color - fantastic shot!!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW!!!!!!! What socks!!!
Terrific capture, wonder what on earth he does??? Agree sometimes colour is just IT! Love the balloon guy too! Great street shot!
June 6th, 2012
wow, that's amazing, great colours and scene (and this is one of those few occasions I get into selective colour - to pick out the bits I want to show up more)

He is so colorful! And he has a lot of... stuff! A very interesting, cool shot! 8)

June 6th, 2012
What a burst of sunshine :)
June 6th, 2012
Haven't seen one quite like this before. If you look closely you will discover all sorts of crazy things...what does he have tucked in his sock? The guy with the ballons compliments the wild guy on the bike. Nicely done.
June 6th, 2012
@newbie tx Stacey... but those balloons belong to him! they are attached to his bicycle and trail along behind him whereever her goes :)
June 6th, 2012
Great capture and COLOR!
June 6th, 2012
oh, no.......this one had to be in color....wowzer, what a sight! are the balloons attached to him too?
June 6th, 2012
@paulaag Hi Paula - indeed those balloons ARE attached to the bike :)
June 6th, 2012
@northy , haha....awesome! i especially like his shoes and socks:) those socks appear to be crammed full of stuff!
June 6th, 2012
He's sort of on his own colour scale, too. We usually call such people 'town originals' here. Do you? And I'm glad you kept the colours!
The street name caught my attention; 'Dundas'. In Norwegian this is an out of fashion word for... well, 'heck', if you catch my drift...? ;-p
June 6th, 2012
Isn't that funny! Had to look at this for quite some tiime to take it all in! Love the trail of baloons and his socks are a real fashion statement with his mismatched shoes!!
June 6th, 2012
Oh wow that is a colourful shot.. and a fascinating one as well
June 6th, 2012
@northy Oh that's funny, I thought the other guy was holding them lol...
June 6th, 2012
@bankmann i don't think i've ever heard the term "town original"... and i don't think we have a label for them at all... as for the name "dundas" - that's too funny! there are all sorts of places named "dundas" in ontario... i think mostly named after Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville... apparently, he was a Scottish lawyer and politician who never visited North America

June 7th, 2012
Definitely a colourful character! I like this shot a lot! :-)
June 7th, 2012
Haha! I love that he about the only one with color in the whole scene.
June 7th, 2012
What an interesting subject! Great shot!
June 7th, 2012
What on earth is he wearing this lot for. I'm intrigued by what appear to be tennis balls stuffed down his socks. Maybe he's a one man band. This is such a great capture xx
June 7th, 2012
I love all of that yellow---now there is a guy who WANTS to be seen!
June 7th, 2012
