Walk on by... by northy

Walk on by...

Although I have to confess, I often do the same... mostly because I am not sure what else one can do in a lot of cases... :(

thanks everyone for the lovely comments on yesterday's photos: apocalypse now and vertigo... those were fun to do...
You could listen to Dione Warwick. But he must have a great pov

Love the motion of the two passing by. yep, what can one do? I'm not sure either

this is a great capture... moving & tells a strong message at the same time

At least he's not unconscious! but how can anyone do this!
July 11th, 2012
Great b&w
July 11th, 2012
Great blurr effect and bw.

Is he sleeping, or checking out the angle for a photo? He looks nicely dressed, with shoes and socks on. I think he just decided to take a nap. He actually looks quite comfortable!

Oh, my. . .hard to decide in a case like this!! I love the motion blur.
July 11th, 2012
Well captured and moving, lady! Nice!
July 11th, 2012
I like the blur and the b&w on this one.

Oh dear, life has ups and downs...not always sure how to handle the downs, a power image you have captured!
July 11th, 2012
This is powerful in so many ways. I'm still not comfortable taking shots of homeless folks ... But you've done this in a way where your image tells a far greater story. It's fantastic.

Some food for thought. Thanks!
July 11th, 2012
Quite the statement...
July 11th, 2012
I feel the same...don't know what I can do. This shot is very evocative.
July 11th, 2012
very fun capture!
July 11th, 2012
Oh I love this wonderful shot!
July 11th, 2012
The light is good and the motion even better :)
So what did you do?
July 11th, 2012
Very tastefully done actually. I love it in b&w
July 11th, 2012
He is having a kip.
I tend to stop and ask, but would suss out the situation first :D
July 11th, 2012
The motion blur of the passers-by is cool. Well captured!
July 11th, 2012
Great capture - I can't really see the pavement being the most comfortable place to lay your head..... but each to their own!
July 11th, 2012
Love the motion in this. It's a sad image - assuming he isn't just a napping tourist.

ahhh, the homeless..they all have a story to tell...so many are so close to becoming just as this man...but oh the survival skills they must learn..all the tricks of the street. I wonder, if in a disaster moment who would fare better? The homeless who learn how to adapt...or the homed?....great picture! I love the story it tells and how it gets you thinking...

Great shot Northy

To me he looks very relaxed. I think I would pass by. The blur reinforces the contrast between haste and calmness
July 11th, 2012
I thought he had a cell phone up to his ear? But I guess not! I hope he is okay.... I would be scared to stop and check on him really.....
July 11th, 2012
Nicely captured! This shot is a study in contrasts - affluence vs. poverty, movement vs. stillness, vertical vs. horizontal.
July 11th, 2012
Another awesome street shot!
July 11th, 2012
A moving shot. Sometimes, there really is no option but to walk on by. Great movement to show the message.
July 11th, 2012
He does look better dressed than a street person usually is and relatively clean. With the hospital here and mental health care not being what it could be in NZ we have a host of unusual behaviours in Newt

Oops hadn't finished! ... In Newtown, Wellington. However, with my daughter having epilepsy which makes people so sleepy afterwards I would check for a medic alert bracelet.
July 12th, 2012
I love the movement in this one too, it really gives the inpression that noone even seems to notice the guy lying on the pavement :(
July 12th, 2012
Very powerful shot
July 12th, 2012
Another fabulous shot
July 12th, 2012
another excellent motion shot. Great job too on composing this

I hear you. It gets me down to see how many people are 'on the streets' in Oslo these days. And you can't give money to everyone and not every day.

I love the composition of your picture. I like the strong contrast between the blurry, hurrying people, and the sleeping guy, looking so peaceful there on the sidewalk. It's like their different consciences are painted onto them.

So cool xx
July 16th, 2012
sad isn't it. :o(
