This strike shack has been set up along a main road forever... I have never been able to figure out why they are/were on strike... some years ago I used to see one or two picketers hanging out with signs... in the winter, they would set up a fire in the can on the left... haven't seen anyone there in a while, tho'... this shack (and another one behind it) appear to be the only remnants of some long forgotten cause...
For the street photography now challenge:
"Take to the streets! Get Political" originally set by Mimi Mollica
ps - not my usual sort of street shot, but the only thing I could think of that I could easily get to on the weekend (it's in my end of town near all the big box stores)
pps - I downloaded the trial version of nik silver fx pro 2 and I think I'm in love :)
@38mm Jase... you know the marshmallow test? where they put a kid alone in a room with a table and one marshmallow sitting on it and are told not to touch the marshmallow? well, i'm the one who would follow those instructions... ;p I will check the door next chance I get!
@peterdegraaff yup - that stretch of the road would be FRIGID!
@jantan tx Jan... I want to know what it was about too! I did a bit of googling earlier, but came up empty...
@maggiemae ha ha ha! prolly not... who knows... but, yeah - i often wonder why those shacks are still there... frankly, I thought the "strike" whatever it is for, was still on...
I am the one who takes the marshmallow and then has a lengthy reason why I was entitled to it :)
I had the best spn idea in my head, I knew of a great spot with a great message.... went to take the photo and they'd cleaned it up, now I got nothing!! Love the b&w and its a cool little building.
I like the processing here. I don't really process much, enhance/ brighten in iPhoto. I have Photoshop so probably should play with it more. Nice shack here! I haven't a shot for this spn challenge sadly.
@38mm@binny it may be a couple of weeks before i get a chance to go out that way again, on my own... but i will be sure to check it out and get back to ya'all!
@monika64 actually... i really don't like marshmallows and have no problem resisting them... now if we were talking 'smores, it would be a whole 'nuther story ;p
that is quite some little shanty, complete with it's own trash barrel too. the door looks super narrow. this works well for the theme!
as far as unions, i don't know about there, but here they are doing everything they can to do away with unions. you know, big business.....screw the little guys so the management and owners can make bigger profits. there are several factories here in my town where they took out the union and now the workers barely make minimum wage.
So you have fallen for Silver Efex Pro - It was love at first click for me too! I like this shot, there is a story there and I like to imagine what it might be (although you have told me!)

SFX2 is fab software. :)
as for the marshmallow... i don't like them anyway... says she flipping her hair and stomping off in a snit...
;D
