It occurs to me that i am almost always playing with exposure which leaves me not quite sure what I should be doing different this week...
This is the magic carpet lift at the local slope... my two boys are the two small fry chatting to one another about 2/3 up on the left... i started by overexposing this shot in the camera (shutterspeed was 1/160 - if i let the camera metre choose it would have been around 1/1000)... but once i got into lightroom i started playing with the sliders, and then played some more in nik silver efex - and ended up here... not sure if this qualifies as over-exposed or not... but whatevs!
Well, you're getting there. The problem is I can still identify shapes. If you're going to over-expose, try shooting for solid white. Now THAT would be something.
The over-exposed effect again. As I said before others like it, @kwind in particular whose shots I consistently like, but I find it a little tiresome. But that's just old grumpy me! :)
@fueast no clue - as i don't ski or snow board, i don't get to ride it ;p but really, it's like the moving sidewalk things at airports, or an escalator... i assume one just steps off ;p
@frankhymus yeah - i know you're not a fan of the over-exposed thing... guess i just kinda like extremes on occasion ;p
What is this thing you call "snow".....LoL
Kinda odd looking for someone that doesn't see things like this. Guess as long as it gets ya back up the hill it doesn't matter how ya get there. Nice shot from your neck of the woods.
An alternative take on this shot could be keeping contrasts toned down so the people have more visible details. The snowy bit would also have some details showing, but you could paint them over with the "main snow tone". I'm thinking a more "hazy" looking image with not too strong shadows and highlights... You can paint shadows, so why not paint light too :)
Definitely the overexposed thing for sure. It kind of looks a bit like a poster. I like the line of skiiers going up the hill. Alas it has been so long since I skied, I have never even seen this magic carpet ride thingy before.
