walk softly and... by northy

walk softly and...

... carry a big stick!

Another run at long exposure... any better, guys?

Whatever time the exif says is wrong - cos i forgot to change the time on my camera this morning...

A funky group portrait in my other album :)

I like it. I fail at critiquing LE shots as I don't know what I'm talking about. However I did go out and buy an nd filter so will start playing soon too.

Awesome

It's stunning... I love the slightly grainy look of the sand, and the silkiness of the water, and the textures of the log!

I like the grainy detail of the sand ... in my world, there is a dog coming to fetch it.

Love the composition and foggy feel to it.

Great shot...and thanks for the reminder...I haven't changed the time on my camera yet! Fav

simply Gorgeous !!

Love the processing on this one.

fav for me. I like how you used the LE water very subtly in this shot. I mean, often the LE water shot is "a random object in the water, surrounded by the white fog", but in this one you have the sand in focus and it gradually changes to that smooth water creating a beautiful backdrop for the shot. I like the fact that you actually wouldn't necessarily even know this is a LE.

Beautiful shot - love the way the textures fall off, from grainy to soft! : )

March 11th, 2013
Well done. I like the contrast of the soft background and the ruggedness of the stick.
March 11th, 2013
I love the log's texture and the gradual softening of the sand and water.

March 11th, 2013
beautiful dof!!
March 11th, 2013
Oh, very very nice!
March 11th, 2013
Aw, I was thinking "please step softly, for you tread on my dreams" - but that works too ;D Fantastic dof - love the textures in the wet sand.
March 11th, 2013
I'm with @janim - I wouldn't have know it was a LE shot if you hadn't said so, but the finished effect is great.
March 11th, 2013
@janim tx Jani... exactly... and i worked very very very hard to achieve that... bahaaaa! NOT!!! total dumb luck it turned out ;p

@humphreyhippo the gorillapod wanted to dump my camera in the water... things were somewhat better once i subdued it, but it gave me some pushback when i tried to convince it to hold steady with the horizon ;p
March 12th, 2013
@northy LOL - sounds like mine. It tried to spin around & throw itself + camera into the docks last week. ;)
March 12th, 2013
Awesome long exposure shot, I like the shallow focus too.
