tx everyone for all the comments and favs on my pawn shot... i was kind of glad to have hit the mark with it - i was a bit worried that it was too "out there" :)
@maggiemae nope - not using a flash... but he would be coming into a dark tunnel out of very bright light and was probably trying to get his eyes to adjust and figure out what was lurking in the shadows ;p
That guy is awesome, I'm totally thinking he's busting out some robot popping dance moves, while nobody's looking :-D As a fellow addict to noir, it's a fav. Did you consider cropping this wider ? I see this like a movie scene, and ~16:9 crop would emphasize that... I think.... :)
@janim you ask the best questions... soooooo... what i originally thought was that i was going to have more of the setting visible.. then i just kept darkening more and more and ended up with this... and kind of liked the keyhole effect and didn't think beyond it... i think now, however, that you are right and the wide crop would work well... :)
The keyhole effect draws your eye to the silhoutte...he maybe waving goodbye to an imaginary public on a stark black stage. The shot suggests manyfold interpretations, it's very intriguing and thought provoking, IMO
This probably breaks so many rules of photography, but it so, so works. Another +F, for me.
