possibly a bit of a craptastic mess, but i need to start somewhere... any advice on how to blend the skull layer onto the body layer more seamlessly in PS will be greatly appreciated :)
a black and white (with a smidgeon of blue toner added to the shadows in LR) for the one night stand challenge set by Jerry (@orangecrush)...
Hi Northy, I agree with @nanderson that a bit of blur may help to match the focus. Also -- ? drop the skull contrast a little to match the station shot. Did you resize the skull (approximately ) separately before pasting into the shot? (that can minimise compression artifacts which can create unextected changes in the 'look' of the pasted image ). Topaz remask usually adds a good feather on the edges for me. Sometimes I also do a quick fix by adding a colour blend layer over the whole thing prior to flattening - a mottled out of focus blurry type texture at low opacity in overlay blend mode can cover up minor colour variations like this. ( but...this image is pretty darn good as it is !! :) ) xx
I think I know what you are after--to make the skull "take shape" to the previous head? There is a way, I believe. I just can't remember how. "Wrap" maybe? Or maybe using a different blending option to keep the contrast across the curves of the face?
@quixoticneophyte tx! i'd had a miserable time with puppet warp in another attempt and didn't use it here... the vid helped - turns out i wasn't understanding how the pins worked!
Well, before I read the commentary I really thought you'd captured a guy walking through the station with a weird skull mask on- so I guess your processing worked on me! So, advice from me would not be good advice! Seems like you got some helpful advice above. I really like it all in all- it's strange and kooky!
:D
Is this of use to you getting the mask to sit nicely? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMKhkA0EJ3E
This is great…!
