this started out as one shot (a drive by shooting ;p), taken yesterday while travelling between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, in northern Ontario (where there appears to be a sizeable Amish community)...
the shot was processed two ways... on the right is a version processed in analog efex... on the left, is a version processed in Lightroom with major saturation added to get some colour in the trees (it was a hugely bleakly grey day)... then i added some sky from my snow-blind shot of a few days ago in Photoshop because otherwise the sky would just be white...
then combined the layers in Photoshop and did some stuff to get the half 'n half look, and then used the warp tool for the peel-back...
ugh... this was NOT the original concept... the original concept was a paper tear down the middle... but despite following two different youtube tutorials i couldn't make it look right... still not sure it looks right as is, but i've kind of had it with this bit of nonsense...
thanks as always for the continued views, comments, favs and the ever present support... without you guys i would still be shooting on the green square and using photoshop to do nothing but crop ;p
I admire all the work that went into this photo! Its like a time warp - they are going into a new era, turning the page, - except for the vehicle on the right. Its an amazing photo!
Wow...I can't begin to tell you how many times I have travelled that route and I think I have only ever seen one buggy!! I love how you have separated out the eras! Works well.
I think it works really well- love the then and now concept of it all. I think the only thing I'd tweak is to make the grey of the road on the right side go all the way to the thick black line on the left side so that the road merges in color and the sky shows time peeling away. Good job!
@olivetreeann tx Ann... interesting point you make about the colour of the road... i think, in hindsight, you are right... i debated doing something along the lines of what you are suggesting, but didn't because at the time, it felt to me too much like it would look like i had composited two images together... but perhaps i was overthinking that :)
Happy new year
Wow, super take on the time challenge. Great idea and such creative thinking in this fab comp!
