taking another run at this for the camera settings challenge based on feedback from yesterday... i'm ambivalent... i kind of liked the negative space, but i think this may be workable as well... and unlike yesterday's effort, this one works big on black...
I think it is closer an I like the position of the subjects. There is seperation between the two and the DOF is nice.
In not convinced on the composition... I might have to download and test out some crops to see what works but I get the feeling that if you have one subject in the 1/3 position and the other in the 2/3 position it would look better.
Now having said that you might find that you might get more space or at least the feel of more space on the right due to the size of the subject.
This one utilizes the frame better than the previous version. This is easy to "read" because there is a clear flow of things from left to right over the whole frame.
I see what @agima is saying, but rather than thinking about thirds, I'd think about where the tiger is heading / looking at. To me it seems that the tiger is looking at something in front of the penguin.... So maybe you want to try to move the tiger to the left a bit, or just turn it to face the camera a bit more... up to you.
I would also add some empty space around the frame (just look at this image on black background, so much more awesome because of the black empty space....)
Anyway, I love this story. It makes me think of Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner.... So I guess an anvil will drop on the tiger in the next image :)
I really like the position of the cat/sabertooth tiger in this image compared to the other...but I really liked how you had the negative offset space to the right in the first pic better than placing the penguin there...it made me think that the penguin was trying to go or was looking in that direction and it pushed my view that way to see if there was something there to see. Both are still great pics!
I like this one but I think the composition could be somewhere between the two. Less negative space on the other shot to the right but a little more than on this shot so the penguin has got somewhere to head into.
@janim@macromover@tasian@agima tx guys... one particular limitation is that the gaze of the tiger really doesn't fall where i think it needs to given the relative sizes of the two figures... i think i need to come up with a totally different concept... but i really really appreciate the thoughtful feedback on this... i've found it to be tremendously helpful...
This version is much more menacing. I caught the intention and feeling of the tiger at first sight this time. I think the angle of the teeth does it. I guess I like it better.
