this is a composite of two photos (both taken today) plus the bubble which was created in photoshop - proving once again that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing...
the chessboard was manipulated in photoshop using the warp tool.. the piano was cut out using topaz remask... i created the bubble following this tutorial (really - who knew you could do this?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QigXWWtjh0
i used the "blend if" function in photoshop to get the bubble to overlay reasonably decently on top of the piano...
added some drop shadows, and some blur to the piano... just because...
oh yeah... and split tones added in lightroom...
i still think something is missing from this shot, but after several runs at shooting and several hours of editing, i'm done... for now ;p
So cool, clever and creative! Thank you for the background on how you did this. I am still trying to get through year one with no fillers, but I love seeing and understanding how images like this are created for future reference.
I'm tired just reading your description of how you created this. The end result is amazingly cool. It's going into my favorites (I see I'm in good company by the number of FAVs I see for this.)
Your edits on this photo were brilliant. I love your photos, and your concepts so much. This is really a great edit, and is definitely other worldly, and fantasy at the same time. I'm thinking of Alice in Wonderland. It was a lot of work, and I completely respect that. And in the end, it just fell out of the cut. Wish I could have gone with 6, but I think that the usual is 5.
@adambralston no worries Adam... And definitely no need to apologize! It's tough having to choose the finalists for voting... I've had my fair share of photos picked for a vote and have no need for more limelight :)
