spent the day at an office a few blocks away from the oh-so-photogenic absolut towers and treated myself to a quick walkabout before leaving for home this afternoon...
for some reason the sky came up horribly muddly... so i went for a graphic edit using the silhouette preset in nik silver fx, and then inverted in photoshop...
Soooo good, these buildings are quite something! When I was challenged in Get Pushed to copy a shot of yours I tried to recreate a previous shot of these buildings using coins... I failed :)
@whimsicalgrateful tx Marta... interesting question and i don't quite know how to answer it... certainly nik silver fx is a stunning tool and when i first acquired it, it opened all sorts of doors to the black and white world that PSE (all i had at the time) couldn't... i still use it a lot, but quite a bit less than i did at first... i am now doing all my fine-tuning for bw images in LR5 because it is non-destructive and i can experiment more... probably, though, it was nik silver fx that first taught me to look at the world, not so much in black and white, but in terms of light, shadow and contrast... and that of course has had a pretty big impact on me :)
@isimo - tx Rob... i think it is definitely worth the money i spent... but then you've got to bear in mind that i work almost exclusively in black and white...
I see what you're saying @brigette
