catch a wave

something of a craptastic mess i'm afraid... i'm working on something that this would be a part of... if the something works out... which so far it isn't... but what the heck, it was fun pouring water all over the counter for 15 minutes or so ;p
awesome! i miss being able to do home photography.

I want to do one of these shots at some point, but the mess has put me off so far...I just love how they look though so have to figure out a way to make it happen.

I love how the glass top is almost invisible and it makes it look like the glass is melting.

beautiful...fav

@taffy it isn't that much of a mess really.... I find the main hurdle is clearing the space on the counter... And figuring out a decent backdrop... I got lazy here... Didn't clear the whole counter and used a rather iffy backdrop not far enough back from the glass to throw it out of focus... And which I then spent much time in PS trying to replace... Clean up during and after was just a matter of paper towels... No biggie :)

absolutely fun, the high key works perfectly
January 13th, 2016
It's so much fun to imagine how to do this.

I like how the glass seems almost invisible. One day I might give something like this a go, but I am too lazy to figure it all out!

@northy Do you use a shutter release cable so you can do the pouring, or do you need a second pair of hands to help? AND, last question, do you worry about breakage or is it not that harsh of a water flow? Thanks in advance!

Lookin' darn good so far!
January 13th, 2016
Beautiful shot... love the movement and drama of the water in high key.
January 13th, 2016

Can't wait to see the end results. This is very well done.

This is fantastic, it almost looks like there is no glass. Can't wait to see what you are working on.

@taffy hi Taffy... i use the 10 second timer on the camera... i find this really helps time the splooosh :) and no, i wasn't worrying about breaking the glass... i don't think the water was any where near heavy enough to present any risk... and it is a very fragile glass i was using :)
January 14th, 2016
So. Cool. I like that you can't make out the sides of the glass.
January 14th, 2016
@northy Thanks...it's now higher on my list of to-do shots!
January 14th, 2016
@joeymc @joansmor it's something i was doing for @projectx - but the glass and splash is just a very small component of that image :)
