trompe de l'oeil

stumbled across this amazing art installation called Peace Through Valour behind City Hall during a walk at lunch today... it is a monument commemorating the 93,000 Canadian soldiers who took part in the Italian campaign in World War II... it appears to represent a miniature city devastated by war...

here is the website of the organization that commissioned the artwork...

and here are some images that give you a better sense of the overall scale...

hopefully i did the work justice in photographing it in this way... it really is amazing...

As you say, amazing. And a great memorial to all those troops who fought and defeated totalitarianism in World War II

Having now looked at the scale, you've more than done justice to the memorial.

@humphreyhippo tx :). Is it possible to build something like this in blender? It struck me that it would be fun space to work with...

@northy Oh yes. It looks a bit more advanced that where I'm at, but people build really complex scenes in Blender. It's where I'm trying to get to but it's going to be a while.
This entire film is done in 3DSMax which is a similar (but more pro) 3D program: https://vimeo.com/7809605

Powerfully done and I thank you for sharing. We need to honor the sacrifice and learn from what was done so perhaps we won't repeat the same horror. Fav!

I love how you captured this because it seems like life-size in one moment and then miniature in the next. Great job!

Please could you take me off the Get Pushed Challenge for a while. My mother was diagnosed with Cancer this week and I'm needing to provide quite a bit of support. Many thanks. Will miss it.
