a number of you have asked about the actual colour of the aurora... this shot is completely unprocessed... as you can see, it's pretty green straight out of the camera... i do have to say, tho', it isn't quite this vibrant to the naked eye...
the way they move was more dance like than anything else... think of smoke moving in slow-motion...
you can find processed shots in the link below (just to be clear, neither of the processed shots started with this particular shot)... one thing i am thinking now is that i could have done better in getting the sky darker in editing...
Spectacular! When I lived in Anchorage we were mesmerized by the aurora. This is an awesome capture, especially since it's usually moving. Great capture!
Absolutely wonderful! We saw these once on Beaver Island, but that was almost 20 years ago. Your pictures captured what I remembered but over the years began to think were an exaggeration.
Thanks for that information. So much processing can be done these days that we don't always know when we're looking at something which is SOOC. Great capture.
So hauntingly beautiful . .. I love both this one for the whisper of the aurora among the stars, as well as the beautifully processed one for highlighting it. Thanks for including this one, too . . . for someone who's never seen one!
Wow! Truly stunning. I can't wait to see the Aurora one day. I fear I'm too far south (Seattle). Maybe I'll have to make a special trip...I should probably put it on my bucket list ;) BTW, very impressed that's it's sooc!
