For practice only... for my push challenge this week @dtigani asked me to experiment with duotone and tritone... which i'm now thinking is similar to split tones... but if anyone has any insight, please let me know!
the above shot was processed in LR and converted to black and white in nik silver fx (left shot)...
back in LR, i experimented with adding tones:
-- to the highlights only (hue 41, saturation 72 - sort of a mustardy orange colour)
-- to the shadows only (hue 86, saturation 27 - a pale murky greeny colour)
the fourth image is split tones combining the other two...
for experimentation only - please don't feel obliged to comment :)
I really like this image, and I think its a great teaching aid for LR too.

Nik Silver should also have some nice duo and tri tone presets? At least as I have read. Haven't yet got around to trying the Nik suite. Photoshop has some cool ones too.
