this is for my push challenge set by Salt Water Woman (@swwoman)... to shoot a photo within a photo... one or the other in color... at first this didn't really appeal to me, but then i had this idea... yes, it's kinda trope-y, and really, i'm not a huge fan of selective colour, but i want to see if this could work... which i think it sorta did... wish i was a bit more defined in the shot rather than just a big black blob against the rocks, but it was FRIGID and i ran out of patience trying to make the settings work for that...
i'd been hoping to get the city at golden hour last night, but then sun was MIA so i got up this morning for sunrise...
@swwoman - probably not quite what you had in mind, but it was fun to play with this concept nonetheless, and i would never have thought of it if you hadn't given me that challenge... tx!
@joansmor it's a tough balance :) on the one hand, the point is to be out of one's comfort zone, which may inherently mean the challenge is at first glance unappealing... but on the other hand, some things are just, well, unappealing to an individual no matter how many times one looks at them... i try REALLY hard to figure out a way to make it work regardless - because i figure it's a good exercise for me personally (i do a lot of work in change management and feel the pushes here help keep me grounded when dealing with change at the office)... but there are definitely times when i just.don't.wanna ;p
I usually only refuse when I have done it several times or physically can't. The ones I hate usually do push me and I remind myself of the name of the game. Though I just told someone I would not do a crown (omg I am so over seeing them) - put I was given a choice drop or crown so not total refusal just being selective. Likebyou say sometimes when you don't like it you can be creative - though I bow to your creativeness.
SC is not my bag either but when it's done with a serious purpose in mind - as here - and not just a gimmick, it can work well. And you got up before dawn to do this... respect!
@northy I think you did great with it... I too am not a huge SC fan either but thought a small "pop" of color would just bring some contrast to your "portfolio"... really like this result...
