unusual headstone

On a visit to the local crem I spotted this unusual headstone. It's the only one I have ever seen with absolutely no dates on. No idea when this gentleman was born or died. I guess the other side is for his wife or another family member....I wonder if they will put dates on that side?

I don’t think I have seen one without dates either. The one next died way to young.
