Nobby's Lighthouse by onewing

Nobby's Lighthouse

For the next few days I am posting photos taken while out with our walking group last Thursday at Stockton.

Today's photo is of Nobby's Lighthouse. Nobby's is an active lighthouse established on Nobbys Head in Newcastle in 1854 to guide vessels into the Hunter River.

How it got the name Nobby's Head is a bit of a mystery and nobody seems to know. Maybe the first lighthouse keeper was named Nobby but the real reason is lost to the sands of time.
Very nice shot

Beautiful shot of this unique lighthouse. Interesting that the reason for the name is still unknown.

Sounds like a salty lighthouse keeper's name to me! It looks so nice and bright standing out against the blue sky. Good shot!
