I am posting early today because I am out for lunch shortly.
We were supposed to be going out with the walking group today, but it was cancelled because it is bucketing down with rain. We have all decided to go for lunch instead.
It has rained for the last couple of days, but on Tuesday afternoon it was a beautiful day.
I regularly put seed out for the lorikeets and have to put it in dishes in a few places around the garden because the 'locals' here don't share with any other birds. They chase anything off that comes close to 'their tray.'
Here you can see Mum, Dad and Baby rainbow lorikeet. The baby is in the middle. You can tell it is a youngster because his eye isn't as red as the other two and his beak isn't as red either.
For the next few days I will be posting photos of birds who visit our garden.
@ludwigsdiana Oh they know me, that is why I call them the locals. They don't share their seed with anyone which is why I have to put another seed tray near our sundial in the garden so others can be fed too. This trio are really bossy.
@happypat Yes they are wild Pat and sit on our patio every afternoon waiting to be fed. We often get about 20 or more lorikeets in our garden at one time but these three don't share this seed tray with any of the others. It is only when they have had their fill that any others get a look in at this feeder.
@annied The noisy miners don't rule the roost in our garden it is the lorikeets who are the boss. The lorikeets even stand up to the larger birds like the kookaburras and currawongs.
@onewing it's the miners who do that here haha - I talk to the kookas when they're being swooped telling them to use your beak hahahaha - the miners even had a cormorant that frequented the yard for a while at their mercy.
The closest I have to arguing birds are the humming birds who debate on who gets to use the feeder first by chasing each other away. I don't think they've figured out there's more than one perch and that no one gets any sugar water at all if all they do is chase each other! Great shot!
How ever did I miss this?! I like to see pictures of rainbow lorikeets- their bright colors are so cheerful and wonderful! Congratulations on the Top Twenty!
Great capture of those colorful birds.
