I am going back to the photos taken while Deb was here now.
We had a lovely time visiting Koala Sanctuary at One Mile.
All of these koalas are permanent residents and have their own little shelter and space within the sanctuary. They can't be released back into the wild because they are too injured, or blind etc but they have a lovely habitat to end their days.
The sanctuary has just got a $2 million dollar grant to extend the hospital within the sanctuary and it is almost completed. We couldn't get too close to the hospital when we visited because it is still being extended, but apparently there are 17 injured koalas in there at the moment and hopefully some will be able to be released back into the wild when they have recovered.
Such a wonderful thing that these Koalas are being cared for. Just love the positions they get themselves into - which doesn't look very comfortable at all lol
@julzmaioro They were very high up in the trees, so I wasn't close at all. I had to use a lot of zoom to get these photos and they weren't easy to spot either.
