Today we went to Morpeth with the walking group and on the way there we drive down this road.
There are very few deciduous trees in our area, so even though it may get chilly in winter here it never really has that wintry look about it. This road on the way to Morpeth is the only road I know of around here which has the look of winter. Consequently, every time we go to either Maitland or Morpeth we always refer to this road as 'the winter road'.
@joluise@winnedreamer Thanks Jo and Nic. I wasn't in the car when I took this, we had parked the car and I kept running out into the road to take a photo before the traffic got too close. I did try one shot from the other side of the road but the angle was wrong. I have decided I am too old to be 'playing chicken' with the traffic!! Phine sat in the car laughing at me and David shut his eyes!!!
@gypsy6 Thanks for the fav Deb. good to know you appreciated it. I nearly got run over taking this shot!!! Yes I do remember the black cocky. I saw three yellow tailed black cockatoo's flying in formation today by the river at Morpeth. Didn't get a photo though unfortunately.
@paulaw@elaine55@gamelee Thanks for checking out my photo and your lovely comments. As I said we don't get many winter trees here and this shot makes it look colder than it actually was. Yesterday I think the temperature was around 18 degrees C when I took this, so not bad for winter.
@elaine55 Ha ha I know. If it is 18 degrees in the UK they are all wearing shorts and tee shirts. When I was at my sister's in the UK quite a few years ago the chap who lives next door to her was wearing shorts and tee shirts because the sun was shining - temperature 13 degrees!!!!
