Newcastle

Today we went to Newcastle for our photography club outing. Such a variety of photo opportunities that I couldn't decide on just one, so here is a triptych selection from our day.

We met up at the Custom House, then wandered through Newcastle for a couple of hours taking photos before meeting up again for lunch.

After lunch we walked up through town to the cathedral where we spent another hour or so taking more pictures before returning home.

It has been a beautiful day, around 22 degrees. Just nice for a stroll through the town centre.

The first picture here is of the Custom House, the second is of graffiti on a building in town and the third is inside the cathedral.

Altogether a very enjoyable day.
That looks a great day out Babs. Beautiful collage

Nice triptych Babs. I agree with @humphreyhippo about the arches and think that would be a great shot to play with.

@humphreyhippo @steampowered Thanks. I lile the repeat of the arches too and got quite a few pictures along that line. This one wasn't the best, just the one I could crop into the right position. Taking photos in the cathedral was a brilliant challenge because of the lighting in the building.

What a fun day you had. Love the captures.... Love you composition on all of them (even the graffiti !!!) The inside of the cathedral is my favorite with the POV and the arches!!! I recently joined a photography club also, and am really enjoying it!!

Quite a contrast between the two outer pics and the middle one and it works so well as a triptych. What a great way to spend the day.

@eyesmile Thanks Gena. We had a brilliant day. @paulaw Thanks Paula. Theer is such a contrast in photos to take in Newcastle, that is why I put in a triptych. I couldn't cover the area in just one shot. @angelar Thanks Angela. Newcastle is such an interesting city, so many different things to see photowise. When I have finished my 'Friday people' series I will have to do a Newcastle series.

@bec2702 Hi Bec. He was just off Hunter Street in Newcastle on Morgan Street, just before the Market Square food hall. There are a few more paintings too.

Also would you happen to know where the train station is? It's where they keep the non working trains I think? I have seen some photos of it a while back & would love to go there myself one day, but I have never come across it..?

@bec2702 The only Newcastle station I know is in the middle of town, just off Watt Street. Attached link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle_railway_station,_New_South_Wales Don't know about non working trains though. There is a depot at Broadmeadow I think which is a railway workshop. Can't help you more than that thogh.
