Dragonfly

Haven't had time to take a photo today and am a bit late posting it on here.

This photo I took yesterday. It was on the wall of our house and I spotted it just as we were going out for the day, so grabbed my camera and took a photo of it.

It is about 4 inches (11 cm) long

What a lovely shot. He's gorgeous but not a dragonfly. Dragonflies can't fold their wings back so this must be some sort of demoiselle fly instead

@steampowered Thanks Paul. David thought it was an Australian Tiger Dragonfly, but a friend of ours says it is a damsel fly not sure what variety though. It seems to have the body of a tiger dragonfly and the wings of a damsel fly, perhaps its a bitsa.

@jackie8 @gamelee @yaorenliu I think I may have got this wrong. I believe now it is a variety of damsel fly. Paul Everest said that dragonflies can't fold their wings back, so it must be a damsel fly. It has the body of a tiger dragonfly though. Will have to check it out and see if I can find what it actually is. Perhaps a bitsa.

What a handsome fellow. We just don't see dragron flys around here, Ihave no idea, perhaps they don't like Canberra!! This is a very clear shot.

Only got another 9 days before Anita goes to Perth and still have lots to see and do. Not enough hours in a day at the moment.
