East Maitland Literary Institute

Today we went to Maitland market. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a wash out, as it has poured with rain all day non stop. Consequently not too many stalls were at the market today.

A total of 24 mm rain has fallen in the last 24 hours and it is still raining tonight. We are beginning to get webbed feet!

We still had a fun day though and after spending some time at the market, we had a huge lunch at the 'all you can eat' Billabong Bistro in East Maitland.

Today's photo is of the Literary Institute building in East Maitland which was built in 1859. Maitland was once the principal town of the Hunter Valley and consequently it has many historic buildings.

After lunch we drove in to the centre of Maitland and visited the art gallery, then had a wander around the streets of Maitland taking more photos before returning home.
Sounds like a lovely day despite the rain :)
