Black Prince Cicada by onewing

Black Prince Cicada

We have had 86 mm rain in the last 48 hours. The rain finally stopped at lunch time today.

The rain has brought out the cicada's and this one I believe is called a black prince. Don't you just love those eyes!
Nice crisp focus on him Babs!

Fantastic cicada capture. Love this type of shots. FAV.

What a smashing shot. I see that your extreme weather has caused a shortage of witchetty grubs this year.

the eyes remind me the caviar - feel terrible by this association.

Amazing shot and yes, the eyes are marvellous!

Oh...Babs. What a great shot.....the detail is wonderful and this would make a stunning piece of jewelry (or at least a replica of it). I guess that sounds weird, but I have seen the cicada image made into beautiful artful jewelry!! Nice one!

@steampowered Thanks Paul. Didn't realize there was a shortage of witchetty grubs. I think that is something I can live with though. You probably have to be a 'local' to appreciate them!

@yaorenliu Thanks Yao. You have definitely put me off caviar now!!

@eyesmile Thanks Gena. Not sure I would like a piece of jewellery made of this chap though. After I took this photo a friend of ours picked it up and placed it on the front of his tee shirt so that his wife could get a close up of it next to a plain coloured blackground. Wouldn't have fancied that crawling up the front of me though!!!

@gypsy6 Anita wasn't too keen on this shot either.

Great shot! Love those red eyes! It shows up really well against that background! Must be nearly summer then!

@angelat Thanks Angela. We were driving along Nelson Bay Road the other day and the noise of the cicadas was really loud.
