I have wanted to do a ghost picture for ages and I took the cellar photo at Tomago House quite a while ago, but it took ages to find a suitable ghost. I finally found her at Hunter Valley Gardens in November and it has taken me until today to put the two together.
This is my first attempt at this type of shot and I am quite pleased with the results.
@cathy366 Thanks Cathy. I had the idea a while ago when I did the picture of the cellar, but it took a while to find the ghost. I saw the little girl statue at Hunter Valley Gardens and thought she was perfect. I thought she looked quite sweet and didn't want a creepy ghost, so she was ideal.
@mcmary@iwatts@mrsbaldy@zenna@derekvickers@lafish@sunraye Thank you all so much. I was quite pleased with this one. Amazing what you can achieve in photoshop. This was my first attempt and I must try and find another ghost now. already got a background ready.

Open up both pictures in photoshop ie cellar and ghost
Make sure you have layers, navigator, options and tools ticked on window.
Select ghost picture and change to b&w Image/adjustments/black and white
Draw roughly around ghost with lasso tool.
Select Edit/copy
Switch to second picture ie cellar and
Edit/paste ghost into that picture
Click on move tool Press shift and hold to change size and drag to size. Release shift and drag to move and put into place. Tick when happy with position and size
Click on layer mask. Layers/layer mask/reveal all or layer mask icon on right of screen.
Select brush tool make sure you have black paint and 100% opacity and flow
Paint out areas carefully around the ghost which you don’t want to show.
Change opacity on slider (which should be just above the layers on navigator on right of screen) until it is how you want it to be (ie about 45%) and there you have it.
Save as a PSD if you want to change anything in the picture later or save as a jpeg if not. Jpeg image will automatically flatten image from two pictures to one.
Note for Heather. Give me a ring if you need any help and I will nip round and show you how to do it. Paula and Nick can't nip round to your place, I may need a packed lunch!
Fav! I am in awe Babs, and well done for the perseverance and research you must have done to achieve this! So cool, perfect ghost and location, brilliant!
