The wildlife in Australia are really smart. The kangaroo sign says roos for the next 4 km, the koalas, next 2 km and the wombats next 16 km. What amazes me is how do they know when to turn round.
When a roo has hopped 4 km does he really think "I'd better turn round before someone spots me or the roo police will catch me". Food for thought!
Love the idea of a sign that says "Wombats next, 16 km away." That's very precise. Or is it "The next wombat is 16 km away"? Either way, still impressive.
Love these signs....we have them for deer, elk and for ducks in our town. In the desert there are burro signs...and even a few turtle ones. Very cool collection!!!
@jackie8 Not all so smart, you see an awful lot of road kill on the roads in Australia, especially roo's. David hit a kangaroo a few years ago when it leapt out in front of him on the freeway about midnight. Luckily he was okay, (killed the roo though and caused $4000 damage to my Subaru) Yes he was driving my car at the time!!! Bugger!!
@angelat@dolphin Thanks, I had this idea a while ago, but it took a while to get all the photos together. When I took the roo sign, just out of the picture is a police car which had pulled over a speeding motorist. I hope they didn't think I was taking a photo of them.
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. I love Australian signs too. Thanks for the Happy New Year wishes, HNY to you too. I hope this year is a good year too. Don't want another one like last year.
@sunraye Thanks Raye. I had the idea for this shot a while ago but it took a while to get all the signs together. . Had to find a quiet road where I could stop to take the pictures.
