I have got such a busy week ahead that I have decided to put photos which I took in Newcastle on our night shoot on here as I won't get much opportunity to take photos this week.
This was taken when we first arrived by ferry from Stockton and it shows just how wet and misty the day was. I decided to convert it to b&w with selective colouring.
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. No it wasn't too hot but very humid. Of course, I had to wear a waterproof jacket too which made it a bit more uncomfortable. It does go cooler in the evening and it was probably around 25 degrees C (I think that is around 77 F by a quick reckoning in my head). I love taking picutres around the wharf.
@heidihp@yaorenliu@scarybird@tracelee@annied Thanks so much I was pleased with the result Sorry for the group reply but it is getting late and I am off to bed. Busy day tomorrow. In fact, bush week.
@dolphin Thanks Molly. It was very grey, but it was also humid so was quite uncomfortable. At least it had cooled down a bit though and was only about 25 degrees c.
@lafish@cljs@jaynspain Thanks so much. I didn't want it to look cold and grey because it wasn't so that is why I decided to do the splash of red. Hopefully it warmed up the scene a bit. ha ha.
That's come up really well Babs. Know what you mean about busy, we're in the midst of a run of being out at the golf club 7 days out of 8. Home and computer time are at a premium.
Perfect use of SC Babs, really should try it more often as it's so effective. I suppose the trick is selecting the right object which isn't always obvious to me!
@golftragic Only just getting round to replying to thank you for your comments. A bit of a busy week this week. Not much at home time. Better to be busy than idle though eh!!
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Know what you mean about picking the right thing to do selective colouring with. I don't always see it either, but this stood out because it was red. I decided to convert this shot to b&w because of the greyness of the day and then spotted the fire hose box while I was doing that.
@angelar Thanks Angela. There are lots of ways of doing selective colouring and this one was very easy because of the simplicity of the shape of the box.
If you have photoshop all I did with this was
Quick selection tool, highlight the area to stay coloured.
Select/Inverse
Image/Adjustments/Black and white
Select/Deselect
and there you have it.
