I thought this shot would be suitable for abstract April.
This rock formation is on the beach floor and was formed from fine volcanic ash that came from a huge volcano about 10 km to the north east about 350 million years ago when Port Stephens was attached to the South Pole.
The tide had just gone out when I took this photo and when the rock floor is still wet the colours look amazing.
It's amazing what you can find at High tide.
I have picked up a small piece of the rock and brought it home as it breaks quite easily only being volcanic ash.
You will have to come out here again for a visit Jane and take a piece back with you to put in your rock/stone bowl.
