I took this photo while I was waiting for the sunset on the breakwater at Nelson Bay a couple of nights ago. This pelican was keeping his eye on the people who were fishing on the breakwater just in case he could get a catch of his own.
I just love that time of the late afternoon when the sun is very low in the sky and it casts a golden glow over everything. The suns glow on this pelican looked beautiful I thought.
Thank you all so much for your lovely comments and fav's. Sorry for the group reply, but I did want to add a reply to this photo. I did very little to this shot apart from change the contrast slightly. The golden light in early evening when the sun is bright and low in the sky looks amazing and as you can see gives a different look to any photograph. I just love this time of day and this very obliging pelican was happy to pose for me. I do believe he had other things on his mind though, as this was taken on the breakwater and he was watching people who were fishing and hoping to get a catch from them. Thank you all again I really appreciate being part of this wonderful community.
@golftragic This has just shown up now on my page. Thanks for the fav. don't know anything about the golden hour challenge. I was pleased with the result of this. The sunlight did all the hard work though. I just clicked the camera and altered the contrast slightly.
@onewing I saw it listed yesterday somewhere. If I see it again I'll whizz the reference to you. Assuming this shot was taken in either Manual or Aperture Priority it'd be a great candidate. My 'golden hour' shot isn't cos it was shot with an iPhone. Rats!
@golftragic I just found it. Unfortunately my camera was set on program for this shot because I was taking all sorts of different types of photo and had to be quick with some. The golden hour sun did all the work for me so no settings would have altered the image I think. Thanks for thinking of me anyway. I just love that time of the late afternoon.
@april16 I think he was a bit grumpy because he was standing on the breakwater next to me watching a man fishing and was hoping to cash in on his catch.
@onewing That's a shame Babs. I'm kicking myself for not having taken a proper camera with me t'other day - I almost always shoot in Aperture Priority.
@flyrobin Thanks Robyn. For the challenge apparently the photo has to have been set in either Manual or Aperture Priority and this was on program because I was taking other types of shots too that afternoon.
@tracelee@nanm Thanks for the fav's. This shot was more or less SOOC apart from a slight tweaking on the contrast. I just love this time of day when the sun is low in the sky and the glow it casts.
@annied Thanks Annie. Someone else mentioned the theme but to enter it the photo has to be either on manual or aperture and this was neither so that is me buggered. Never mind. I like it anyway.
@ourrube@annied@carys@gamelee@dgrynn@chimfa@luvmynynix Thank you all so much for dropping by and for your fav's. I am really behind today as I have had such a hectic day. Hopefully will catch up tonight, but I need a cup of tea first and dinner.
