Red Spice Road by onewing

Red Spice Road

It has been a very cold grey day today and I have had a lazy day. Much needed!

I have been shunting around, sorting out and deleting some of my photos, when I came across this one taken in Melbourne a while ago. I decided to have a play with it in Photoshop and as I did a selective colouring photo yesterday, thought I would give this shot the same treatment. I am quite pleased with the result.

Today's theme photo - rust

I really like this, Babs. What a good idea - that sign was screaming out for selective colour

Sam
It's a very trendy and yummy restaurant! Very popular this one :)

Looks really great, just love your pov and the selective colouring Fav :-)

Babs I think the selective colour works but for me would have cropped just above the sign as the building in the background starts to become to dominant after that drawing the eye away from the subject. Of course that's only my view :)

@julzmaioro Thanks Julia.

@ethelperry I agree, there is something about red which screams selective colouring to me too.

@gigiflower May give it a try next time we are in Melbourne. Would you recommend it?

@hermann Thanks so much for the fav sally.

@scarybird Thanks Steve. Had a look at cropping it above the sign like you suggested, works quite well, but I still prefer the original. I wanted the red to be in the centre on the right and also wanted the lead into the picture too which you lose after it is cropped. I also wanted the people to look smaller against the height of the building too and that changed when it was cropped lower. Thanks for your suggestion though I always like to try these ideas. Great to have another pair of eyes in the mix.

@onewing all very valid points. It's funny how a crop can change a photo, as you say it is nice to have a second pair if eye even if it's a rubbish suggestion lol :)

Wonderful capture love the selective colour :) fav

@scarybird Not a rubbish suggestion at all Steve, a very good suggestion and it would work well both ways, Keep the suggestions coming, all much appreciated.

@dide Thanks Dianne. I must give the restaurant a try next time we are down there I think Sam @gigiflower may have been there. I love the fantastic restaurants in Melbourne. Tried most of them when we lived there too.

@888rachel @happypat Thanks so much for the favs. It has been lovely having a lazy day. A much needed charge of my battery today. Should have really caught up on some housework, but I thought sod it, that will fit in next week somewhere. ha ha. The washing and ironing are up to date though.

Red Spice Road is quite delicious if you like Modern Asian Fusion type stuff...........it's different than just your normal (boring) Asian however the food is YUM! It's still very trendy in Melbourne and they get good ratings online. It's isn't particularly cheap tho - I think we are paying for the trendiness of it all!!
June 15th, 2014
very cool shot!!

A very good choice of photo and name for today Babs as you say it has been a cold grey day for you. I would be fancying a hot spicy meal to get warm, you know me!!! The day looks cold in Melbourne too, everyone looks wrapped up in coats and scarves!
June 15th, 2014
nicely done. Love the pop of red.
June 15th, 2014

I love this, great urban setting in B & W. Perfect!
June 16th, 2014
@scarybird Love your back and forth analysis with Steve. It's very helpful to see how you both look at a shot. Love the sc.
June 16th, 2014
@kathiecb Thanks Kathie, it is great to get another idea. I love it. Angela suggestged I flip my gerbera picture (l put on here last month) horizontally so that it went from right to left instead of left to right and it worked really well. Much better. I think they had had a discussion about flipping pictures at her photo club meeting. I always try people's suggestions and see if they work.

This is really cool. Be careful what you are deleting, you never sure what amazing outcome may come out of Photoshop.
June 16th, 2014
OOOOhhhh Babs. Love this! Perfect SC...perfection! FAV
June 16th, 2014
Instant fav for me. Love that red.

@quietpurplehaze @almondjoy1 @darthkitty @karlow75 @lafish @libertylady @swagman @tonygig @pcoulson @april16 @eyesmile @golftragic Thanks so much for all your lovely comments and favs. With your help it got on the Trending Page. Thanks again.

@yaorenliu Thanks so much. I am very careful what photos I delete. I never delete anything which I think may be used in the future. My husband is the one who keeps everything. He will keep a picture of a bush and then says that was a bird but it flew away. ha ha.

@kathiecb @onewing I agree it great to get good interaction, that's what I like about 365 when you get suggestions and opinions and also when you get to ask questions how somebody has archived a particular image, there are very few precious people here! Photography is an art form that can be interpreted in may different ways.
