The weather is starting to cool down here now as Autumn kicks in, but that wasn't going to stop this little girl. She was on a mission at the beach defying the force of the waves.
She really makes the scene for me. It's a great capture and interesting take on negative space. Without her, the focus is the wave action and there is no negative space. With her, she's the focus and the rest is grand empty space!
@hermann@quietpurplehaze Thank you both. I thought the same, she does look fragile against the mighty ocean. Don't be worried though Hazel, it isn't as dramatic as it looks. There were lots of people on the beach and her parents were just behind her.
@taffy Thanks Taffy. I wanted to emphasise the vastness and power of the ocean and I am pleased that you saw that. It wasn't as cold as it looks here though either and I am glad it had a bit of a chilly feel about it. This is a popular surfers beach so the ocean always looks powerful, even on very hot days.
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. Our winters don't get too cold I suppose, they just feel cold to us after the summer of around 40 degrees c (104 f)
At the moment the temperature (autumn) is about 23 degrees C (73f) and down to about 16 C (9 f) at night. In winter it can get down to 16 c (9f) during the day and 9 C (48 f) at night. Having said that though we do get warmer days in winter too, so it isn't winter every day, ha ha.
