The force of the ocean

The weather is starting to cool down here now as Autumn kicks in, but that wasn't going to stop this little girl. She was on a mission at the beach defying the force of the waves.
The exuberance of youth! Very nice minimalistic capture

Lovely capture of a small girl and a large ocean!
April 11th, 2015
Beautiful lighting and horizontal layers Babs, they build them tough in Oz:)
April 11th, 2015
One brave little girl...would not catch me in there. Lovely image.
April 11th, 2015
Great capture :)
April 11th, 2015
lovely colour tones in this one.
April 11th, 2015
A great shot Babs, she looks so fragile fronting up to the mighty ocean :)
April 11th, 2015
I really like this - and seeing that little girl and all that sea only makes me a tiny bit worried!
April 11th, 2015
Love this capture, beautifully composed, Babs!
April 11th, 2015
Fabulous composition, captures the vastness of the sea
April 11th, 2015
Love the perspective. Looks like the waves are over her head....which they aren't.
April 11th, 2015
Nice shot. I love how you captured her alone like that
April 11th, 2015
This is beautiful, Babs, and I love that it tells a story.
April 11th, 2015
Babs, I'm learning that have a person in amazing shots (like this) add so much more to the image. Wonderful! :)
April 11th, 2015
Love this shot! The whole thing is wonderful.
April 11th, 2015
Wonderful shot
April 11th, 2015
Excellent composition especially with the young girl off-centre and looking at the waves coming in
April 11th, 2015
Brave young lass I would say
April 11th, 2015
Lovely capture Babs.
April 11th, 2015
Just my kind of shot with the girl heading out into the water. Such huge waves! Fav.
April 11th, 2015
She really makes the scene for me. It's a great capture and interesting take on negative space. Without her, the focus is the wave action and there is no negative space. With her, she's the focus and the rest is grand empty space!
April 11th, 2015
Pretty scene! The water looks so inviting.
April 11th, 2015
Such a great shot Babs. Sweet bit of color. How cool do your winters get Babs?
April 11th, 2015
Fabulous! Exactly the sort of weather we've been having!
April 11th, 2015
Lovely shot Babs. I like all the layers to the sea and sky with perfect placement of the little girl.
April 11th, 2015
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. Rather her than me, but it wasn't quite as cold as it looks. The sea is chilly though.
April 11th, 2015
@leestevo You wouldn't catch me in there either, Those waves are really strong. Popular for surfers.
April 11th, 2015
@hermann @quietpurplehaze Thank you both. I thought the same, she does look fragile against the mighty ocean. Don't be worried though Hazel, it isn't as dramatic as it looks. There were lots of people on the beach and her parents were just behind her.
April 12th, 2015
@kathiecb Thanks Kathie, this is a popular surfers beach so the waves always look like this even on hot days.
April 12th, 2015
@davidgnc Hello David, haven't seen you around for a while, didn't think you were still posting. Thanks for dropping by.
April 12th, 2015
@taffy Thanks Taffy. I wanted to emphasise the vastness and power of the ocean and I am pleased that you saw that. It wasn't as cold as it looks here though either and I am glad it had a bit of a chilly feel about it. This is a popular surfers beach so the ocean always looks powerful, even on very hot days.
April 12th, 2015
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. Our winters don't get too cold I suppose, they just feel cold to us after the summer of around 40 degrees c (104 f)
At the moment the temperature (autumn) is about 23 degrees C (73f) and down to about 16 C (9 f) at night. In winter it can get down to 16 c (9f) during the day and 9 C (48 f) at night. Having said that though we do get warmer days in winter too, so it isn't winter every day, ha ha.

@salza @thistle @onlyme111 @pusspup @hermann @susanalena @susie1205 @bkbinthecity @mittens @novab @chimfa @seattlite @mbmomentsintime @tonygig @dolphin @kwind @kwiksilver @bella_ss Thank you all for your comments and favs. I am pleased that the atmosphere of the shot showed through. Actually it wasn't as dramatic as it looks, the temperature was around 23 degrees c so although a bit on the chilly side it wasn't freezing. This is a popular surfers beach so the waves always look like this even on hot days.

Pam
That's a nice photo! The waves are great.
April 12th, 2015
That's my kind of girl. Nice capture.
April 12th, 2015
Brave little girl! Great capture!
April 12th, 2015
Lovely shot. Perhaps she is from Victoria or Tassie? The water is so much warmer up where you are.
April 12th, 2015
Sam
Brrr far too cold in Melbourne to get into the water now!
April 12th, 2015
Brave girl. Like your composition.
April 12th, 2015
Very nice composition, and I like those surreal clouds. It is still warm enough to swim here too, and even I swam last weekend, and I hate cold water!
April 12th, 2015
Nice shot Babs
April 12th, 2015
I love this Babs, the light is great; the layers wonderful and the lone figure walking into the waves. A big fav
April 12th, 2015
A beautiful scene, such lovely light, especially on the clouds.
April 12th, 2015
Love it, fav.
April 13th, 2015
beautiful scene - I did not get to enjoy the beach nearly enough this season due to too much work
April 13th, 2015
April 13th, 2015
@karlow75 Thanks Kane. You could be right, but the water is still too cold for me now.
April 13th, 2015
@gigiflower Too cold here too Sam.
April 13th, 2015
@yaorenliu Thanks, yes she is very brave.
April 13th, 2015
@888rachel Thanks Rachel. Wow you are brave too, the water is too cold for me now.
April 13th, 2015
@terryliv Thanks Terry.
April 13th, 2015
@ceilidh Thanks for the fav Margaret.
April 13th, 2015
@paulaw Thanks Paula. It was later in the afternoon so the sun was getting low.
April 13th, 2015
@golftragic Thanks for the fav Marnie. Much appreciated. I think the little girl should get the fav, she was braver than I am.
April 13th, 2015
@annied Thanks Annie, you will have to remedy that when Spring arrives. We are lucky that the ocean is so close.
April 13th, 2015
@onewing you are indeed
April 13th, 2015
Terrific capture :)
April 13th, 2015
It's a great shot.
