I just love the old fashioned merry go rounds and this one is a fine example. I believe it dates back to 1892 and has been magnificently restored to its original glory.
We have just got home from a get together with some friends, so a bit late posting tonight.
If I haven't thanked you personally for your lovely comments and favs, I apologise, but I do try and catch up when I can.
I'll get in before Denise @gilbertwood
Horace the horse on the merry-go-round
Went up and down, round and round
He's been sad since the day he found
He's the very last horse on the merry-go-round
The music began and away they'd go
High and low, to and fro
Poor old Horace would always say
I'm the very last horse again today . . . . . . . .
This is a great shot. I love the light from the back. We have a beautiful carousel that is completely hand carved by volunteers. So beautiful. I find it hard to photograph...as it is indoors. This inspires me to go back and try it again. Your composition of this charming merry go round is lovely!
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. I didnt ride the merry go round but whenever we are out with our walking group and pass a play park a friend and I always have a play on the swings
@onewing You need to Google the song Babs cause it has a happy ending
. . . . Then came the day on the merry -go-round
Horace turned, looked around,
Said oh gosh oh gee
I'm the very first horse on the merry-go-round
The others are following me.
@terryliv ha ha you could be right. If you look at the faces on this photo, their faces look quite sweet, but still a bit threepence short of a shilling.
@golftragic Thought you'd recognise it. I agree it is a beauty and the faces on the horses look such fun too. some old merry go rounds have such scary horses.
Have you ridden on this one? I could just see you galloping around.

Nice shot Babs
I like the rhyme!
I like the shot too which reminds me of Ray and his dad as adults having a ride on a merry go round.
