Ice by onewing

Ice

While we were without power for four days recently we had to keep items like milk, butter, yoghurts, cheese etc cold by putting them in an esky along with a slab of ice. We purchased a couple of blocks of ice each day.

When we were putting all our emergency camping equipment away on Sunday after the electricity was restored, we put the last two blocks of ice outside to melt. It was then that David noticed the patterns in the ice and so we both spent a while taking photos of it.

This is the centre of one of the slabs side lit with one of our battery LED lights. I just love the patterns in the bubbles.

Thank you all so much for the amazing response to yesterday's photo of Sunset after the storm and I will catch up with you all tomorrow.

I am just off out as it is photo club tonight.
how amazing - and beautiful

Love those shapes and the way the light shines through the ice. Thanks for all your support of my Project over the past two years Babs, I really appreciate it. I haven't seen Jackie for a while but follow her on Facebook and she seems to be doing brilliantly, really making the most of her pain free mobility which is great. I will pass on your good wishes :)

@thistle Thanks Joyce, yes everything is back to normal in our house at least. Some people still haven't got power though after a week. David is checking out generators so he will be ready for the next time we have a great storm.
The hard drive died on his computer due to the outage too, so that is being replaced. Hopefully the external hard drive back up is okay.

@bugsy I have heard that some people still haven't got power. I hope your house is okay. Is somebody keeping an eye on it while you are away.

@pcoulson Thanks for the fav Peter. It was a huge block of ice and I am going to post another photo today of the edge of the block of ice. It had fabulous patterns all the way through it as it was melting.
The colour was caused by one of our LED battery lights.
