Traffic Jam by onewing

Traffic Jam

Today we have been at Stockton in Newcastle with our walking group and as we parked our cars at Stockton I spotted these tugs bringing the coal ship into Newcastle.

The green and yellow boat in the foreground is the Newcastle to Stockton ferry boat and instead of travelling in a straight line between the ferry terminals it had to do a detour around the other boats.

A beautiful day today as you can see from the colour of the sky, which was perfect for walking. Such a pleasant change after the last two days of rain.
Wow! We have small boats around here but that is something else!

What an amazingly large ship!

Great shot of these boats and the traffic jab. Who would have thought that a coal ship would be the cause.

Certainly looks busy, a bit like our harbour this time of year
June 18th, 2015
That's quite a variety of boat/ships. Interesting shot and nice pov.

The coal boat really looks huge next to the tugs. Lots to see here.
June 18th, 2015
Great shot
June 19th, 2015
@creampuff Thanks. The bulk carriers are massive aren't they.
June 19th, 2015
@julzmaioro @quietpurplehaze @pippie @pippie @sioux @888rachel @salza @gigiflower @novab @seattlite Thanks ladies, I am aways amazed at what a fantastic job the tugs do. This bulk carrier is empty at the moment as it is high in the water. When it makes its return trip out of the harbour loaded with coal it will be a different story.
June 19th, 2015
@pusspup Thanks. it will be even grubbier when it is full of coal, ha ha.

June 19th, 2015
@chimfa You will have to come back again Jane on a fine day.
June 19th, 2015
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. The ferry was determined to win the race, ha ha.
The tugs yesterday had a relatively easy job of bringing in the carrier, but on a wet and wild day it is a different story.

@cruiser Thanks Chris, busier than Pitt Street on a Saturday morning.
June 19th, 2015
@mbmomentsintime @thimblelady @paulaw @leestevo Thanks so much. I love watching the tugs bringing in the carriers.
June 19th, 2015
That ship is humongous. The scale in the image is great, thanks to the way you've captured the tugs with this coal ship.
June 19th, 2015
Great shot of this huge ship!
June 19th, 2015
Quite a busy port. Great colors and clarity. Love the perspective.
June 19th, 2015
So interesting - great shot!
June 19th, 2015
What a neat shot showing the 'traffic jam'.
June 19th, 2015
Lovely shot of these working boats Babs
June 19th, 2015
@taffy @loweygrace @eyesmile @basqgirl @dide @terryliv Thanks. I was so glad that the ferry boat sailed past too because with that and the tugs it really emphasised the size of the bulk carrier.
