We have been in Newcastle all day today and I haven't taken any photos.
First we went to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Newcastle Library and then off for some lunch. Followed by a spot of shopping and a visit to a couple of our second hand book shops.
For the next few days I am going to post some of the photos I took at Stockton last week.
Today's photo is of a rather dilapidated jetty and across the Hunter River you can see Kooragang Island in the distance.
Lovely capture Babs. I so wish we had beaches nearby. Then I think how lucky we are ti be surrounded by beautiful countryside. City life is not for me!! Love to visit but then can't wait to get home.
Sounds like you had a nice day out and about! I'm not thinking I would like to walk out on that "jetty" (pier?)! This is another lovely shot of life in your land ... I really enjoy seeing your pictures!
Well I was just thinking, walk that jetty at your peril! Great view though of the distant Kooragang Island. Sounds a busy day ...you do get lots done Babs....you never have a day at home?
@thistle Thanks Joyce, we do have some lovely beaches near to where I live. I couldn't live in the city either. Stockton is a suburb of Newcastle and this is as much of city life as I can cope with, ha ha. Newcastle is about 60 km from where we live. It is very industrial, similar to Newcastle in the UK I believe.
@karlow75 I agree, Newcastle does look good at sunset. I have taken a few industrial landscapes. Don't very often get there at sunset though. It is about 60 km from where I live.
@2nutsinatree Thanks, we had a lovely day. After a very chilly start it did get quite warm for winter. Temps up to about 17 C (62f). Not exactly hot, but warmish.
@happypat Sh!, don't tell anyone Pat, I am home all day today. I am on a mission to get some meals cooked for the freezer after losing the lot when we had our great storm and no power for 4 days. We are ready for the next storm now though because we have bought a generator.
@taffy I think the buildings on the other side of the Hunter River belong to the company Orica which produce chemicals for mining etc. and possibly the white circular buildings are ammonia gas containers. Not sure though.
