Golf Club Fire by onewing

Golf Club Fire

I am posting a bit early today as I am pretty busy with tracing family history for a friend of mine at the moment.

We were out this morning at the market and then on our way to a friends house we spotted the aftermath of the fire at the golf club which happened late last night.

I believe the fire started in the roof at the front of the building, so sounds as though it was an electrical problem. The policeman who I spoke to said that the building will have to be demolished and rebuilt.

David thought that the policeman was coming over to tell me not to take photos and he was standing by waiting for me to be told to move on, but he was very chatty.

As it is Fathers Day here in Australia today, the bistro was booked out for lunch and dinner today, so I guess there are going to be a lot of disappointed customers.

A friend of mine works, or rather worked at the golf club, so I guess she will be retiring now. Her husband has been trying to get her to retire for a while.
that's a shame - hope no one was hurt

@jeneurell Nelson Bay Golf Club. I used to follow you, but somehow you disappeared from my follow list. Good to see you back. I have re-followed now. Don't know what happened there.

@salza @gigiflower Nobody was injured. The bistro had recently been extended and rebuilt all gone now though. You can't see the bistro in this picture. I couldn't get any closer with film crews, police and fire brigade around though. Luckily I had my phone with me.

Thats no good. Just as well all people ok.

Oops! that happened to a golf club near us a while back. Good shot that hill in the back really bounces your eyes back to the golf club. Hoping the course is till playable while the building is rebuilt

A sad day for the local golfers. Not to mention a few dads!

what a sad sight. We seem to have house fires every day here in Adelaide at the moment. A lot seem to be due to heaters.
September 6th, 2015
What a shame that they have to demolish. I hope they had insurance.

Such a sad sight the aftermath of a fire :)
September 6th, 2015
Ill wind and all that (your friend) but such a shame.
September 6th, 2015
This is a shame. This picture should be kept by them for old time memories.

Terrible loss to fire...sounds like no one was injured
September 6th, 2015
That's an awful loss, hope everyone got out uninjured
September 6th, 2015
Such a terrible thing to happen Babs....disrupting so many people's lives! Fire can be a dreadful thing. A new one will rise from the ashes but only after lots of work & expense!
September 6th, 2015
Oh dear. Hope everyone's ok.
September 6th, 2015
Oh dear, that means a stressful time for the owners - and all those people who had to come up with family meals at very short notice!
September 6th, 2015
That is sad to hear. I hope everyone was okay.
September 7th, 2015
What a blow for the local community Babs. Good capture for you.
September 7th, 2015
Oh no! I hope everyone involved is safe.
September 7th, 2015
That's sad. So many ramifications that affect a lot of people.
September 7th, 2015
Such a shame to see. It looks like it did a lot of damage.
September 7th, 2015
@golftragic Thanks Marnie, we have got a few golf clubs in our area, but I think they are concerned that some of the members will go off to the opposition if the green isn't up and running again soon.

@julzmaioro @pixiemac @beryl @thistle @pusspup @cruiser @888rachel @hermann @quietpurplehaze @sdutoit @seattlite @craftymeg @happypat @epcello @paulaw @mittens @kwind @fntngrma @bella_ss Thanks everyone. I am sure they will open up the green again before long, but I suspect the owners of the golf club are worried that people will move to other golf clubs in the area if it is out of action for too long.
September 7th, 2015
That is too sad! Those poor golfers - no 19th hole for a while!! What will they do? Me being a golfer too I can appreciate their plight.
September 7th, 2015
Such a pity. It does make an interesting shot though despite that.
September 7th, 2015
@beachdog there are a few golf clubs in our area so they have got other choices. Also I believe that Nelson Bay Golf Club is hoping to have the green open again in a couple of days even though the building is extensively damaged.
September 8th, 2015
@chimfa It was definitely a shot for what happened that day. David thought I was going to get arrested for taking a photo, especially when a policeman was coming towards us. ha ha.
