Heart of the Tree by onewing

Heart of the Tree

I had planned on having a quiet at home day today to catch up on housework, but it didn't work out that way. I have been in and out and all over the place.

Stopped off at a friends house though on our travels to pick up David's monopod which he left in his friends car last week.

Of course, we had to have a cuppa and a mince pie while there too. Got to be seasonal.

This is another photo I took while at Maitland. I just loved how this tree had a heart.

Thank you so much for the fabulous response to yesterday's photo 'From Little Things Big Things Grow' and for putting it on the TP and the PP.

Off to get dinner ready now and early to bed tonight I think, I am so tired this evening.
Well spotted. A great find.

Beautiful heart of oak? The title worked well but not sure if it's an oak so might not fit! I wonder how this shape occurred?

@merrelyn I agree Merrelyn, although I did manage two loads of washing in the morning before I went out so don't feel too bad.

@happypat Definitely not an oak Pat, but not sure what variety it is. Must check it out next time I am in Maitland. I think it is some sort of native and the shape was formed because the limb has been cut off and the bark has healed around the wound.
