Unloading Containers by onewing

Unloading Containers

This is another photo taken from our cruise ship of the containers being unloaded from a container ship.

It was fascinating to watch and I was very impressed with the driver who was moving the containers.

If you look closely at the bottom picture here you will see the driver sitting in the cab at the top of the machine. Not only does he have to manoeuvre this contraption, he sits sideways while driving it too. Very impressive.

Also if you look on the right hand side of the top picture you can see the edge of the bridge of our cruise ship in the picture too, so you can see just how close we are parked next to the container ship.

I have trouble reverse parking in the shopping centre so the parking of both the captains of the ships and the drivers of the machines moving the containers is very impressive.
Very interesting shots Babs. I'll leave this parking to the experts, I'm pretty ordinary at parallel parking.

This must have been so interesting to watch Babs and a great shot. My histogram seemed to be upside down! I am really struggling to get the correct shape.

Lovely detailed captures Babs, can't believe how the ship does not capsize with the height those containers are stacked on the ship:)

Great scenes to convey what is happening -- it makes me think of TV shows where someone is being kidnapped and hidden in a container. Your shot shows how unlikely anyone could find the poor victims!!

@eyesmile Thanks Gena. We are home now from our cruise around New Zealand. 42 of us from our local U3A went on the cruise together in December.
I posted photos during December of the cruise and decided to use the next few weeks posting other shots taken on the trip because we are very busy decorating our house at the moment and no time to take photos.

wonderful collage . I once saw a contraption like that pick up boats and put them in the water. It was fascinating to watch.

I could watch areas like this for ages. Love the shots.

Must have been very interesting to watch and not necessarily what I would expect to see on a cruise. Container shipping definitely seems to require meticulous planning.
