I am posting very early today because we have got a long day ahead.
We are out for lunch with friends and then off to the Music of the Guns at Fort Scratchley in Newcastle this evening. We went to this event two years ago and it was brilliant so I am really looking forward to tonight's performance. It ends with the Army Band playing the 1812 overture complete with the firing of the guns at the fort and the pealing bells at the cathedral close to the fort. The cathedral is lit up with the searchlight from the fort too. Should be a good day ahead.
I thought of the idea for this photo ages ago when I bought some tic tac sweets with minions printed on them. I have only just got round to putting the idea into action though.
I did have the idea of doing rows of 10 x 10 tic tac sweets, but by the time I got to row 7 I had had enough, ha ha. Trying to line up the sweets without them rolling over was the devil of a job and then turning one of them over to make it blank without the others rolling was also pretty difficult.
I did this initially with white paper as a background but when I photographed it they didn't look right, so I had to start again with a piece of black paper as a background. I am pleased with how it turned out though even though there were one or two rude words along the way.
Wow, patience rewarded. Fab effect, with the one "missing man." There are no rude words, when the minions roll over on you... just accurate descriptions of how you are feeling. ;)
@pcoulson haha, no wonder I was able to set up this shot without tearing my hair out. Mum used to buy me puzzle books and IQ books etc when I was a kid. I loved them. The learning has paid off. There were only a few rude words in the mix.
@busylady Thanks Judith, Yes we have lots of places here in Australia that are named after their English origins. Newcastle here was famous for its port and steel works etc in the early days, hence the name.
@pusspup Thanks Wylie, the 1812 was fabulous. We all came home with the smell of gunpowder on our clothes from the firing of the guns during the overture at Fort Scratchley. It was a beautiful open air event, but the wind was in the wrong direction, ha ha.
@chimfa I did eat one or two, well maybe a few more. I had three packets of tic tacs though. The concert was fabulous. It was at Fort Scratchley. Have you been there? A fabulous setting for the concert.
@888rachel Thanks Rachel I will check it out when I get chance. I remember your Minion photo and that gave me the idea for this photo. Only just got round to doing it though. I can be a bit slow sometimes. :)
