350 Million Year Old Rocks

I love the patterns on these rocks. Further round the beach there are some gorgeous colours of the lava deposits, but the tide was coming in. I will have to photograph them another day.

I love the patterns and cracks that appeared as the lava cooled.

If you saw my shot yesterday you will see that these rocks were formed when Australia was still attached to Antarctica.
It is easy to forget how amazing life is! Wow!

@golftragic The interest in patterns in rocks comes from living with an amateur geologist for 40 odd years.

@onewing Wow, I'd love to do a walk, in my case limp, with him. I've always been interested in geology. Just at a mugs' level, of course, but still love to learn more.

I think the holes and the colours and the shapes are quite fascinating to see. How wonderful to be able to see and stand on and touch something that connects to a time so long ago.

I just love how this section of our coastline changes as you walk along. Beautiful sandy beach on one side, the fabulous rock formations here and rock pools and then on to the mangroves further along.
